Summer Challenge
Click here to register for the summer challenge.
All other details on this site apply to the main Elevate Race that takes place each February. It takes a long time for the race to come around each year, so we are trying something new! We will be having an end of the summer challenge. It will be unique and lighthearted, but still a competition.
Key details
- Saturday, August 10, 2024
- Start time: 8:00am (7:30 arrival & 7:45 announcements)
- All previous Elevate Race participants (& guests) can enter for free
- Cost: $0
- Aid is limited to ice water
- Shade and bathrooms will be available, but you are responsible to bring everything else you need.
- Runners of all ages are welcome to join. Those 12 and under need to have a responsible adult present.
Race format
- It is the same 1 mile loop as the main Elevate Race.
- There will be very limited course markings since most in this race know the course well.
- Everyone will start a loop together every 12 minutes (8:00, 8:12, 8:24, 8:36, 8:48, 9:00, 9:12…).
- Example: If you finish a loop in 10 minutes then you have 2 minutes to do whatever you need to do in preparation for the next loop. You can bring any supplies you need (chair, cooler, nutrition).
- Runners must be lined up at the starting line and start running when the next loop starts (every 12 minutes) or they are eliminated.
- At least 1 person is eliminated each loop.
- Anyone that does not complete the loop in 12 minutes is eliminated.
- If everyone completes the loop in time then the last person to finish the loop is eliminated.
- If someone completes a loop in time but decides to not continue, they count as the person being eliminated on the next loop, not the loop that was just finished.
- Once a person is eliminated they must stay off the course, but they are encouraged to stay and hang out. Family and friends are also welcome to come to watch and cheer, but everyone not in the race must stay off the course.
- The length of the race is unknown as it depends on how many participate and how long they can last.
- The first person to finish each loop will spin a wheel 60 seconds before the next loop starts.
- Most items on the wheel are good things, but some are bad.
- The spinning of the wheel stops once there are 5 or fewer runners.
- The last person that remains after everyone else is eliminated is the winner.
- The likely scenario is that the race will come down to two final runners. Whichever of those two runners finishes that last lap first is the winner.
- Everyone is in the same category and follows the same rules.
- The winner will receive a free entry into the 2025 Elevate Race (any distance) plus 3 additional free entries to give to anyone that has never participated in a previous Elevate Race.
